While finishing school in Richmond, Virginia, I began documenting the many murals spread across the city. Most of these were created as part of the Richmond Mural Project, which began in conjunction with the Art Whino G40 Art Summit in 2012 and returned last July. This project produced over 100 murals in 5 years. During summer 2016, I assisted with website updates for the project. The murals have contributed to the changing landscape of RVA in many ways, not simply in terms of beautification, but also gentrification. The absence of murals in some neighborhoods speaks to economic divides that persist in the city.
