Advanced Writing

I taught an advanced writing course for the Virginia Commonwealth University English Department during the spring 2014 semester. This course was a discussion-based seminar that focused on elements of visual rhetoric. For the final project portfolio, students critiqued the arguments of advertisements by editing an image to produce a new message. They also juxtaposed a series of images to construct an argument about their chosen theme. A written reflection explained their creative choices and understanding of the ways form and content worked together to construct meaning.
