Photography in the Contemporary Novel
Final Creative Project

For this assignment, students used themes and strategies we encountered in the class readings to create their own work of fiction that incorporated photographs.
Although some students excelled at creative writing, this was not a requirement for successfully completing the assignment. In many ways, the reflective cover letter (where students explained why they did what they did) was the most important part of the process. In this letter, students discussed their goals, the methods they used to achieve these goals, the places where they thought their project succeed, the places where they did not quite succeed, and any additional information that allowed me to see how they used knowledge from class discussions to shape the final product. The students shared their work with the class during the final exam period.
